The Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat named Milan’s Palazzo Lombardia as the best tall building in Europe on June 13, 2012. It is the seat of Lombardy regional government. The building was designed by Pei Cobb Freed & Partners, the winners of an international design competition in 2004.
“The Chicago based CTBUH, a group of architects and structural engineers that monitors tall building projects around the world, said there has been a "renaissance" in skyscraper development. A record 88 towers taller than 200 meters were completed in 2011 - compared to 32 such projects in 2005.”
